Why is a good to pickle veggies?
Back in the day, pickling and preserving was a way to save money and have veggies in the winter. Stores we’re stocked up with fresh fruits and veggies year-round like they are now.
Pickled onions are kind of a new recipe for us. We like them spicy. They are so easy to make it’s silly. It’s sugar, rice vinegar and Sweet Heat seasoning. And some onions and some heat. Done drop that mic.

Notes
You can pickle any veggies with this recipe. Obviously cucumbers, but also peppers, celery (sliced very thing), radish.
Ingredients
- 1 red onion, sliced very thin
- 1/4 cup rice vinegar
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 tsp SauceGoddess Sweet Heat seasoning
Instructions
- Combine rice vinegar and sugar and Sweet Heat in a small pan.
- Bring to a boil.
- Turn off.
- Add onion slices.
- Stir to coat completely.
- Let sit for at least 5 minutes. It's ok to stir every now and then if you like.
