Sweet Heat Hummus with Basil

This recipe works well with any bean. It’s flavorful, a bit spicy and healthy all at the same time.

Sweet Heat Hummus with Basil

  • 1 can of white kidney beans
  • 4 large fresh basil leaves (or 1 Tbsp dry)
  • 1 clove fresh garlic
  • 1 Tbsp lemon juice
  • 1.5 Tbsp BBQ Sweet Heat Spice Rub
  • salt as desired

  1. Drain the can of white kidney beans, saving the liquid in a bowl.
  2. Place beans into blender or food processor.
  3. Add BBQ Sweet Heat, basil leaves and salt.
  4. Buzz it up in the blender/processor.
  5. Add some of the reserved liquid from the can of beans.
  6. Buzz it some more.
  7. Keep adding liquid until it is the consistency you like. I use around 3 Tbs or so.

Prep Time: 10 minutes ; Yield: 1 cup
